Project Details
Saengerhalle is a historic tax credit project that reclaimed three vacant buildings overlooking Washington Park and restored them with an infill addition as a new office building for multiple tenants. The historic restoration maintained the existing massing of the three contiguous buildings and includes interior brick walls, hardwood floors, and feature areas with mezzanines overlooking dramatic two-story spaces.
New construction infilled an interior courtyard to tie the buildings together with common circulation and an elevator lobby core. The common corridors run between the original buildings and the new addition and contrast original brick walls and punched window openings with expansive glass walls and exposed steel structure. The new addition includes oversized exterior windows, and uninterrupted interior volume with exposed longspan steel trusses and metal floor deck, and stained concrete floors.
The Saengerhalle project received a Historic Preservation Award from the Cincinnati Preservation Association.
